Born on<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>January 27, 1946, in New York City, she grew up in Spanish Harlem and formed the group as a teenager with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>her cousins Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett. Together, they became one of the defining acts of their era, contributing to the popularity of the girl group sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ronettes gained recognition in the early 1960s with a blend of pop, rock, and R&amp;B. Their well-known songs include \u201cBe My Baby,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBaby, I Love You,\u201d and \u201cWalking in the Rain,\u201d all of which highlighted their distinctive harmonies and style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working with producer Phil Spector, the group became closely associated with the \u201cWall of Sound\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>production approach.
