Missing Utah Girl Found Alive 500+ Miles from Home, Safe After 6 Weeks

In a relief-filled turn of events, 15-year-old Alisa Petrov — missing for nearly six weeks in Utah — has been found alive and safe. She appeared at a police station in Colorado Springs, more than 500 miles away from her home.

Authorities report that Alisa walked into the station and identified herself. She appeared to be in good health, though details of how she traveled so far or whether she was held against her will remain unclear.

Alisa was last seen on surveillance footage leaving a train platform in Provo after being dropped off near school. Investigations revealed she had been in contact with three adult men online. One man, 35-year-old Matthew Nicholas Menard, allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations with her. Investigators have arrested him along with two others on charges related to the sexual exploitation and solicitation of a minor.

The family had offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to her safe return. In a heartfelt response to the outcome, Alisa’s father expressed relief and gratitude, encouraging resources to focus on her safety rather than assigning blame.

Officials continue to gather information surrounding her disappearance, determined to understand what happened during those six weeks and ensure her wellbeing.
