I Just Moved Into an Old House — But These Hooks on the Ceiling Have Everyone Talking

When I bought this old home from an elderly couple, I expected a few quirks — creaky floors, odd wallpaper, maybe some retro tiles. But I didn’t expect to find hooks in the ceilings of three rooms: the family room, a bedroom, and even the master bathroom.

At first, I thought they were for hanging plants or decorations. But the placement was strange — one directly above the middle of the bed, another near the bathtub, and the last right in the center of the living area. None had any support beams or electrical wiring nearby.

Curious, I asked the neighbors if they knew anything. That’s when one of them, an older man, gave me a strange look and said quietly, “Oh… they never took those down?”

He explained that the couple who lived here before were known for being “a little different.” Apparently, the husband had installed those hooks decades ago — not for plants, but for something far more unusual. Some locals whispered they used to hang herbal sachets or crystal pendulums as part of spiritual “cleansing” rituals. Others say it was part of old therapeutic methods, where fabric swings or ropes were used for stretching and “energy balancing.”

I’m not sure which version to believe, but one thing’s for sure — it’s eerie standing in those rooms at night, staring at the quiet little hooks left behind by people with secrets I’ll probably never fully understand.

Now, I keep wondering… should I leave them up or take them down?
