Paul Harvey’s 1965 Warning That Came True — “If I Were the Devil”

In 1965, legendary radio broadcaster Paul Harvey delivered a chilling message titled “If I Were the Devil.” At the time, it sounded like a dramatic sermon — but nearly 60 years later, his words feel eerily prophetic.

Harvey spoke of a future where morality would fade, truth would be twisted, and greed would rule the hearts of men. He warned that if the devil wanted to destroy humanity, he wouldn’t do it through violence or war — he’d do it quietly, by corrupting values, dividing families, and convincing good people that evil was simply “progress.”

He said, “If I were the devil, I’d make the young believe that the Bible is a myth and that man created God.”
He added, “I’d lure pastors and politicians into mistaking popularity for truth. I’d convince people that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is old-fashioned.”

Looking at the world today — the chaos, the division, the moral confusion — it’s hard not to shiver at how accurate his words have become.

Paul Harvey’s message wasn’t about fear — it was a wake-up call. And maybe, just maybe, it’s one the world needs to hear again.
