The Park Bench Comeback

Two old men were sitting on a bench, enjoying the sunshine and feeding pigeons, when a young woman jogged past in a sports bra and tiny shorts. One of the old men couldn’t help but smile—wide and cheerful.

The smile caught her eye. She stopped, marched over, and snapped:

“Why are you staring at me and grinning, you pervert?”

The old man didn’t flinch. He adjusted his glasses, leaned forward politely, and replied:

“My dear… I’m not smiling at you.

She blinked. “Then who are you smiling at?”

He pointed down the path where another elderly man was struggling to jog, limbs wobbly, face red, trying his best to keep up behind her.

“I’m smiling at the fact that he thinks he’s catching you.”

The girl went silent.

The other old man wheezed, “Still got it!”

And just like that, the whole park burst into laughter.

Sometimes, age doesn’t steal your spirit—
it just gives your humor sharper aim.
